Entrepreneur Francia Villavicencio Zamora, a Batangueña married to Felix Zamora, started serving ricecakes at their eatery, in addition to the regular menu of lugaw and pansit on September 22, 1972.As they vividly recall, the recipe for Puto was published on the September 21, 1972 issue of Taliba -it's last, as it was the same night when Martial Law was declared; Having that recipe as guide, they started serving Puto the following day, it became an instant favorite among customers, and they have been producing ricecakes since that day.
